From October 11th to 13th, 2024, the 9th China Advanced Materials Industry Expo and the Conference on Dual-Use New Materials for Military and Civilian Applications were held in the West Coast New Area of Qingdao, Shandong Province. Leaders from the Central Military-Civil Integration Office, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, the Equipment Development Department of the Central Military Commission, and the National Expert Advisory Committee for the Development of New Materials Industry, as well as leaders from Shandong Province and Qingdao City, academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, representatives from central industry associations, central enterprises, universities, and research institutes, and leaders from local industry associations and enterprises attended the opening ceremony.

This expo, themed "Advanced Materials Leading the Development of High-End Equipment," brought together the top ten domestic military-industrial groups, universities and research institutes, core associations in the materials field, high-quality enterprises, and academicians and authoritative experts in the dual-use field for military and civilian applications. The event showcased the latest products and facilitated discussions on new materials, new technologies, and the development of dual-use applications. The exhibition covered an area of 20,000 square meters, with over 300 exhibitors presenting more than 10,000 exhibits, attracting nearly 18,000 professional visitors. The research team showcased several innovative projects at the conference, covering areas such as dual-use new materials, smart materials, and functional materials. Particularly in research directions combining defense and civilian applications, the team's work received unanimous praise from industry experts. Professor Xu Ming, the team leader, stated that participating in this expo not only showcased the team's scientific research achievements but also provided an important opportunity for in-depth exchanges and collaboration with leading enterprises and research institutions in the industry.
