Congratulations to Dr. Wang Yaxiong for his paper being accepted by Nano Energy

In this paper, Dr. Wang yaxiong demonstrated that reduced graphene oxide (RGO) as the negative electrode of potassium ion battery (PIB) has a high potassium storage capacity of 171 mAh/g at -40 ℃.This high retention rate at low temperatures is one of the record high and low temperature capacities of all carbon negative materials. The author prepared and optimized RGO as a representative nano carbon material with moderate surface defects, large layer spacing and high conductivity. These factors can shorten the transport distance of ions and reduce the difficulty of ion embedding. For these reasons, RGO at -40 ° c has 10 times the capacity of graphite, hard carbon and GO.In addition, the optimized potassium storage capacity (171mAh/g) of RGO is far higher than that of lithium storage and sodium storage (68 and 56 mAh/g, respectively). The synergy between high mobility of potassium ions in electrolyte and surface-dominated ion storage mechanism is important for low temperature energy storage performance.
